Peter Clohessy Charity Challenge Trek to Jordan in aid of the Arts For Peace Foundation
Former Irish International and Munster rugby player Peter Clohessy “The Claw” will lead a group of intrepid trekkers to Jordan in April 2010 on a Charity Trek Challenge to Jordan in aid of the Arts For Peace Foundation.
This is a unique opportunity to join Peter on this challenge which will take you through the ancient city of Petra now one of the seven wonders of the world, to the spectacular desert landscape of the Wadi Rum where our Bedouin hosts will guide, accommodate and entertain us and then onto the lowest surface point on earth at the Dead Sea.
This challenge is open to both walkers and horse riders and as Peter Clohessy also has a passion for horse riding, Peter will be completing part of the challenge on horseback. There will be an opportunity for the walkers among the group to complete part of the desert adventure challenge by camel train.
As a group we will explore the deserted city of Petra carved into the rocks of the Petra Canyon and following that the group will travel to the desert area of Wadi Rum where the horse riders will mount up on their desert horses to explore the Wadi while the walkers will explore the area by foot and camel, with everyone meeting at the Bedouin Tents for evening rest and entertainment and camping under the stars.
Following the ongoing success of the Foundation, the plan is to raise an increasing amount of funds that will reach more children in Irish communities and other countries where there is suffering from global and social conflict.

This trek will take place in April during Easter over a ten day period and is open to all levels of horse riders and walkers. As long as you can walk, trot and canter a horse and have a reasonable level of fitness with a sense of real adventure, you can participate. All trekkers must raise a minimum of €4,200 before departure. You will be fully mentored and supported by the Arts For Peace Fundraising team through your fundraising.
The Arts For Peace Foundation would like to thank Peter Clohessy leading this trek and for his commitment to raise funds and awareness for the vital work the Foundation carries out.
If you would like to join Peter on this challenge please contact trek coordinator Jeremy Perrin on either 087 7900422 or in the Kildare office on 01 2542292 or by email at Jeremy@artsforpeace.ie.
